Using Coding to Bring our Stories to Life

The following is the link to my lesson plan using Scratch to integrate technology into an ELA lesson.

Coding is becoming more and more important skill to integrate into our curriculum as technology is an ever-growing part of our world. Coding skills empower students with problem-solving skills, logical thinking, and the ability to create and innovate. It fosters computational thinking, which is essential not only for future careers in technology but also for understanding and engaging with the modern world. Scratch is a software that has endless opportunities for integration so I am certain that I would use this resource in my future practice. Although I will not be using Scratch within my current placement, I will hold onto this lesson plan and modify it according to what grade level I am teaching.

  1. I found myself vehemently nodding my head in agreement while I was reading your blog post! Coding is a critical life skill that we are teaching to students that are going to have endless career opportunities that will incorporate technology at some point in the future. So implementing lesson plans that connect and integrate other subjects can allow technology to become second nature while they are learning! Spectacular integration!
